How to Refresh Old Content

Update existing pages when intent is stable but facts, examples, coverage, or internal links have aged.

A refresh should make an existing search destination more complete and accurate. It should not automatically create a new URL for every query that appears in Search Console.

What matters most

  1. Review Search Console queries.
  2. Check facts and merchant details.
  3. Replace stale examples.
  4. Add missing same-intent subtopics.
  5. Improve internal links.
  6. Update the modified date only for substantive changes.

Keep the workflow accountable

The useful metric is time to an accurate, internally linked, publishable page—not raw words generated per minute. Search intent, factual verification, source quality, and final editorial judgment remain publisher responsibilities.
